Hidden Water Falls in the Forest - Brecon Beacons
As part of our things-to-do section, each month we will be posting a new blog here that features outdoor places to visit that are off the beaten track and local events that we think you might like. Not forgetting, of course, putting together that special picnic or bbq to enjoy, which we can help you put together via our online shop.
A graceful column of water in a wooded amphitheater falls 10m into the large, deep plunge pool of Sqwd Gwladus; you can climb behind and dive back in. Upstream find imposing Einion Gam, 21m high and rarely visited. It requires some criss-crossing of the stream, but you are rewarded with a huge plunge pool, best in the morning sun.
Entering Pontneddfechan from B4242, find woodland "waterfall woods" through a metal gate behind Angle Inn L (SA11 5NR, 01639 722013), parking opp).
About half way is a little canyon stretch for jumping and swimming (51.7639, -3.5978). Eventually, arrive at a large junction pool below the footbridge. Cross first bridge and bear L up the Afon Pyrddin Lady Falls, 1/4 mile. (Bear R to continue to Horseshoe and then Ddwli falls) and follow the river 1/2 mile. Also accessible from the N, at Bronwydd, end of road SA11 5UR.
